Bishop Franklin E. Lowery is the second of five children born to the late Franklin Lowery and Mary Anderson Lowery. He is married to Elder Sylvia B. Lowery, who works
close with him in ministry. They are the parents of two sons, Tory (Nerissa) and Justin and one grandson, Jeremiah
His education consists of graduation from East Lincoln High School in 1975. He furthered his education when he attended and graduated from Belmont Abbey College with
a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Recreation and a minor in Sociology. He obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Carolina University of Theology. He has also studied at Gardner
Webb University in the Divinity School.
Prior to his call to ministry, Bishop Lowery was a Lincoln County Magistrate where he served for 18 years. He is the founder and director of the “Don’t Foul Out”
youth program where he encourages youth to make right choices in school, sports and society. He has coached basketball on the middle school, high school and collegiate levels where his devotion led
the staff at Belmont Abbey College to name the men’s locker room in his honor.
Bishop Lowery answered the call to preach the Gospel on December 4th 1992 and delivered his initial sermon on January 10, 1993. He was ordained by the
Gaston County Missionary Baptist Association in 1996. In 1999, after serving faithfully as an associate under Pastor O. W. Banks, Bishop Lowery was called to pastor Gold Hill Missionary
Baptist Church. Under his leadership, many ministries as well as spiritual sons and daughters have been added. On November 2nd, 2012, Bishop Lowery was consecrated as Bishop in the North
Carolina Region by Churches In One Accord.
Bishop Lowery is very active in many civic and community organizations. He has served as Dean of Institute for the Gaston County Missionary Baptist Association and
3rd Vice-Moderator. He is currently Chair of The Crusade Committee. His travel has taken him from state to state and even internationally to Kimberly, South Africa, where he has partnered
with Galeshewe Baptist Church. Pastor Lowery has received many awards and certificates: ABCDE Institute, Youth Leadership Chaperone of the Year 2005 hosted by Elizabeth City Housing Authority while
he was the Tenant Program Coordinator for Lincolnton Housing Authority and Mentoring the 100 Way from 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Pastor Lowery is currently serving on the Lincoln County
Communities in School Board, YMCA Christian Emphasis Committee and Lincoln County Public Education Foundation, just to name a few.
Bishop Lowery acknowledges the favor of God on his life. His commitment to God and his love of people has allowed him to enjoy the abundant life that Jesus has
promised. He encourages others to believe that in order for us to enjoy that abundant life, we must learn to deny ourselves and to have a servant’s heart. One of his favorite passages of scripture is
Psalms 34:1… “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth”. He also acknowledges Luke 13:32… “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's
good pleasure to give you the kingdom”.
